Testimonials about the "1,000 Dreamers-1,000 Leaders" Program

“We are thrilled to have been selected by the White House to announce the “1,000 Dreamers-1,000 Leaders” program today. We are grateful to President Obama and the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics for their recognition and support. This unique and impactful program will make a real difference in the lives of Dreamers by providing them with the tools to unlock their full potential and achieve their professional dreams,"--Rebeca Vargas, President & CEO of the USMF

“It is an honor to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and the Initiative’s 25th anniversary with the release of nearly 150 commitments to action that will help strengthen the educational outcomes and opportunities for the Hispanic community from cradle-to-career. These commitments will bring critical resources to Latino students and families across this country, are examples of meaningful investments being made in support of the largest, youngest and arguably the fastest growing minority community in the country and will help fulfill America’s future," --Alejandra Ceja, Executive Director of the WHIEEH.

From our participants:

"All in all, what I hope to accomplish with this program is another step forward to be further educated and help others in the process."

"Having a mentor who is willing to share his or her knowledge about the professional world, help me develop vital skills and always be there when I need support, are the essential nutrients needed to nurture success."

"I plan to continue to go to school and obtain my master’s degree in accounting as well. For students like me, who are not very familiar with the world of business or the accounting industry, it is very hard to transition. That is why I know that the “1,000 Dreamers – 1,000 Leaders” program would be beneficial to me."

"After reading about 1000 Dreamers 1000 Leaders I was intrigued in applying for this program immediately. I realized the benefits it would convey towards my educational career goals.  Having someone to talk to about school and guide me within my career choices, are the main reasons why I am applying for this program."

"I’m applying to the program because I’ve come to realize in the past few months that I need help in enhancing my personal brand, and building plans for my future. I don’t know how to network, and many aspects of the professional world confuse me. While I am eager to learn, and start planning for the future, as well as improving my skills, I feel lost. To me, this program will provide me more clarity about the professional world, that is my expectation. At the end of this program, I hope to be able to confidently portray my personal brand, to have figured out and be working toward a career path, improve and gain new skills, among other things."
